A dodging game in virtual reality

Dark Mechanism - Virtual reality is a game where a series of obstacles are spawned randomly, and your job is to dodge them or weave your way through them.

Weird colours and odd shading

Dark Mechanism - Virtual reality uses weird colours and odd shading to create an atmosphere within the game, and even though the atmosphere is nice, it is still not enough to carry this game and/or make it playable in the long term. In fact, most people are going to become bored with dodging cogs or weaving their way through cog-like tunnels with just a few minutes. The aim is to not touch the mechanism, and to work your way through/around the obstacles, but there seems to be little point to doing it since the obstacles spawn infinitely. You can collect perks as you go, but it is not enough to make this bland journey anything more than a chore.

Infinite ways to burn through time

The creators of Dark Mechanism - Virtual reality are proud of the fact that the game has infinite levels because the randomly-chosen mechanisms will continue to spawn at random as you play the game. However, the game is nothing more than an exploitation of VR technology with no game or fun to be had. It is simply a way for people with VR headsets to try out the technology. There is very little to the game, there is no incentive to play it or keep playing, and it quickly becomes very dull and boring.

PROS

  • Exploits the 3D virtual environment for new users
  • You can keep going as long as you like

CONS

  • Repetitive and boring
  • There is no point to playing the game
